Preparing Landy for a long trip overland has been quite a big job. Driving on rough roads (sometimes, no roads) through many different countries is very different to driving on roads in our own country.
Can you think of all the ways it will be different? For example, in dry countries it will be very dusty, and if it is hot too it might be difficult to keep cool without letting the dust in through open windows.
How many other ways can you think of that it will be different?
Having been in a hot country (Nepal) for so long, at fifteen years old, Landy’s framework is in very good condition with no rust, but there is evidence of his age on some of his body joints (a bit like Paul’s!). We have fixed them though, by welding in some new parts.
Before making any modifications, we have done lots of work to get Landy in good shape, including lots of mechanical repairs and some bodywork.
Landy’s doors were also quite rusty at the bottoms, but nothing that couldn’t be rubbed down and repaired.
He also has a coat of shiny new white paint.
